Kevin Pimintel
July 03, 2010
It is with great sadness that the Asian Pacific American Bar Association (APABA) announces the passing of Kevin Pimentel, an active member and dear friend. Kevin passed away on Friday, June 25, 2010 at the age of 36 years old.
Kevin devoted most of his career in pursuit of justice and equity for marginalized communities. He served as a staff attorney for the Asian Pacific Islander Legal Outreach, a non-profit based in Northern California that provides direct legal services for the Asian Pacific American community on domestic violence, human trafficking, and elder abuse. Most recently, Kevin opened and maintained the Law Offices of Kevin Pimentel, where he specialized in the areas of estate planning, family law and immigration law, notably for Lesbian and Gay families. Kevin was also an active member of the Philippines American Bar Association (PABA).
With APABA, Kevin attended events and volunteered for pro bono clinics, including devoting time and energy to our joint clinic with the South Asian Helpline and Referral Agency (SAHARA) and the Asian Pacific American Legal Center (APALC), helping South Asian victims of domestic violence. “Kevin’s death is a tremendous loss for our communities and for APABA. We will miss him dearly, “stated Dennis Wu, APABA board member and co-chair of the Community Service Committee, which coordinates the SAHARA clinic.
In lieu of flowers, the Pimentel family is asking that donations be made to a non-profit providing immigration law services.
APABA sends its condolences to the Pimentel family and those who knew and loved Kevin.
