NEWS FLASH: Bush Signs Law Providing Benefits to Filipino WWII Vets

December 11, 2003

The law will benefit 8,000 U.S. citizen and permanent resident Filipino World War II Veterans who were either members of the Commonwealth Army or the New Filipino Scouts, and is worth an estimated $16.3 million per year in medical benefits.  The bill was originally sponsored by Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA), Chairman of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee.
