APABA Congratulations Our 2010 Public Interest Fellow!
APABA thanks all of the outstanding applicants for the 2010 APABA public interest fellowship. We are proud to congratulate our newest fellow, Kathy Khommarath!
Kathy is a rising 2L at Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, where she is the current Vice President of the Public Interest Law Committee and Secretary of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association. She aspires to become an immigration and civil rights attorney, providing quality legal counsel to underprivileged Asians and Pacific Islanders (APIs) and other communities of color. Before attending law school, Kathy was the community organizer at API Equality-LA, a leading API grassroots advocacy organization focused on marriage equality and LGBTQ rights, as well as a program assistant at the Asian and Pacific Islander Older Adults Task Force, where she worked very closely with the elderly Cambodian community in Long Beach. She received her bachelor’s degree in political science from Loyola Marymount University in 2007.
During the summer of 2010, Kathy will be working for the impact litigation unit at the Asian Pacific American Legal Center, the nation’s largest legal services and civil rights organizations for APIs.
