APABA held its 3rd Annual Softball Tournament on Saturday, August 21, 2004 at the Cheviot Hills Recreation Center. Participating teams included the Japanese American Bar Association (JABA), the Korean American Bar Association (KABA), the Phillipine American Bar Association (PABA), the Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association (SCCLA), the Asian Pacific Public Defender’s Association (APPDA), the Orange County Asian American Bar Association (OCAABA), the South Asian Bar Association (SABA), and the Asian Pacific American Bar Association (APABA). After three rounds of softball, defending champions KABA came away with the trophy, winning by one point over SABA. PABA came in a close third. All four softball fields at the Cheviot Hills Recreations Center were packed with more than 120 players and fans in attendance, and participants enjoyed a mix of Indian food and pizza in between rounds.
APABA wishes to congratulate all of the participating teams and players for a match well-played and for displaying good character and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. APABA also wishes to thank tournament organizer Sandeep Baweja and crew members Kasie Lee and Winston Lin for all of their hard work, as well as LA Stressbusters for providing free 10 minute massages to rub away our aches and pains during the game. Until next year softball fans!
